宋本《释氏六帖》的第六帖较为完整地摘录了唐代高僧释义净的《大唐西域求法高僧传》,可称是此书的删节本,为考察此书的早期面貌提供了足资参证的信息。同时,它也能在一定程度上助证现存各本《大唐西域求法高僧传》文字的历史可靠性。当然,它自身也存在删节改写过度以及脱误较多等缺陷,一定程度上削弱了它的文献价值。

The sixth volume of Shi Shi Liu Tie of the Song dynasty contains a fairly complete excerpt of the Tang Dynasty＇s distinguished monk Yi Jing＇s The Biography of the Eminent Monks Seeking the Buddhist Scriptures in the Western Regions in the Tang Dynasty. This abridged edition provides adequate information for the investigation into the early look of the biography. At the same time,it can also help prove,to a certain extent,the historical reliability of the existing versions of the biography. It unavoidably has its own drawbacks such as too much abridgement in rewriting and over-replacement,which weaken something of its literature value.
