黄州老城区北郊有一座被人们呼为禹王城的古城遗址,据搜集出的有关该遗址的史料研判,可确定它是秦汉时的衡山郡治、衡山国都、西汉中期至东晋时的邾县故城即邾城,禹王城之讹称不过始于清末民初。用一览表的形式,清晰、简明地展现出自战国末年至东晋咸康时该城址的历史变迁,以澄清人们长期存在的一些误解。

There is an ancient city site in the northern suburb of Huangzhou, known as Yu Wang City. According to the collection of historical data on the site, which can be determined that it was the ancient Hengshan county, Hengshan capital in Qin and Han dynasties, as well as the old city Zhu Cheng during the mid-Western Han Dynasty to the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The false name of Yu Wang Cheng only began in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.
