Influenced by Mary Wollstonecraft＇s female educational thinking in her creation of Pride and Prejudice,Jane Austen reveals three problems of the female education in the 19th century British society,i.e.,the utility in female education,the misplaced maternal education and lack of rational education.The women in the novel receive skill education as a preparation for marriage.The lack of right maternal education makes them both physically and mentally unhealthy.The lack of rational education sends them into varied dilemmas in the choice of marriage and love.Austen＇s views on the independent consciousness of women are under the influence of Wollstonecraft,but she transcends her.Wollstoncraft is mostly focused on ＂family activities＂,whereas Austen is more concerned with women＇s independent spirit.
