A Preliminary Study on the Development of Overseas Medical Brokerage in China

随着中国中产家庭对海外医疗服务的关注,专门提供跨境就医服务的产业即海外医疗中介业也在蓬勃发展。当前,我国海外医疗中介主要有专业海外就医中介机构、健康管理机构、旅行社三种模式,海外医疗经纪发展面临由于信息不对称造成患者对出国看病存在恐惧心理等诸多瓶颈。通过实施"送出去"到"请进来"战略,变出国看病服务为高端客户终身健康管理服务,接管国外医院国际部,扩大接待能力与服务能力,提高行业壁垒等措施,有助于我国海外医疗经纪业突破发展瓶颈,促进行业健康有序发展。

Nowadays, more and more Chinese middle class families pay attention to and pursue overseas medical services. Under this trend, an industry specialized in providing cross- border medical services, namely overseas medical intermediaries, is also booming. The service scope of overseas medical intermediary institutions includes visa application for patients and their families, appointment and referral to foreign hospitals, medical visa application, medical record arrangement and medical data translation, medical translation or daily-life translation for patients to foreign countries, etc. Currently, China＇s overseas medical intermediaries mainly have three modes： professional overseas medical intermediaries, health management agencies and travel agencies. The development of overseas medical brokers is faced with many bottlenecks, such as patients＇ fear of going abroad for medical treatment due to information asymmetry. By implementing strategies from ＂sending out＂ to ＂come in＂, it is possible for us to change the situation of going abroad to see the doctor into lifetime health management services for high-end customers, to take over the foreign hospital division, expand the reception ability and service ability, raise trade barriers and other measures to help overseas medical brokerage break the development bottleneck in our country, and eventually help promote a healthy and orderly development of the industry.
