习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的精神实质可以从三个层面加以阐释:其一,精髓是解放思想、实事求是、与时俱进、求真务实;其二,核心要义是坚持和发展中国特色社会主义;其三,本质属性是为中国人民谋幸福,为中华民族谋复兴。三者互相补充、相互依存;简洁地表达就是"不忘初心,牢记使命"。
