Based on the results of epidemiological investigation and feeding practice, it is argued that mechanism of kidney enlargement in Arctic fox is that some dietary substances cause abnormal intestinal mucosal immune in sensitive female fox, resulting in production of antibody against dietary antigen. The fetus or pups were passively immunized being at supper sensitive stage. The pups are continuously exposed to these dietary substances after they start to eat, thus forming antigen and an- tibody complex depositing in kidney. The deposition of the complex could cause damage to the kidney and enlargement of the organ. Measures for the prevention of the disease were also addressed.
