Six Evaluations on the Political Assassination of the Revolutionary Party in the Late Qing Dynasty

清末革命党人在坚持武装斗争的同时,还对一些清廷大员进行过十余次较为重要的暗杀活动。革命党人进行的这些暗杀,完全是为了彻底推翻清王朝的专制统治,建立资产阶级共和国,因而属于政治性的暗杀,并非如有人所说是实行恐怖主义。革命党人实行暗杀,其理想与最终目的,至公而高尚;革命党人不尚空谈,践行革命的精神可嘉可尚;革命党人大无畏的自我牺牲精神可钦可佩。当代学者指出其暗杀活动的种种不足与局限是必要的,但以现代人的眼光和标准去批评、否定革命党人的政治暗杀,似有苛求先烈志士之嫌,且有违于唯物史观的基本立场。

While adhering to the armed struggle,the revolutionaries in the late Qing Dynasty also con ducted dozens of assassinations against some of the court officials,aiming at completely overthrowing the Qing Dynasty＇s authoritarian rule and establishing a bourgeois republic. They were therefore regarded as political assassination,not as it was said to be terrorism because their ideals and ultimate goals were to be fair and noble;their fearless self sacrifice spirit of practicing the revolution was commendable. Although it is necessary for some contemporary scholars to point out the various insufficiency and limitations of their activities, it is unfair to criticize and ignore their political assassinations from the viewpoints and standards of modern people,which will be against the stands of historical materialism.
