英译《少年天子》中的福临形象扁平化研究——聚焦于福临的话语翻译

Flattened Image of Fulin in The Son of Heaven:Foucsing on Fulin's Speech Translation

本文基于《少年天子》汉英平行语料库,对作品中的福临话语及其英译进行分析,考察英译本中福临形象扁平化的具体表现和原因。研究发现,与原文中性格复杂的"圆形人物"形象相比,英译本中的福临在天子、儿子、丈夫、才子等形象侧面都有所削弱,更加简单直接,趋于"扁平人物"形象。产生这种变化的原因主要有三点:出版目的的制约、目的语读者的阅读期待、译者的文化身份。

Based on the Chinese-English Parallel Corpus of The Son of Heaven,this study analyzes Fulin's speech and its English translation,trying to explore the specific manifestation and possible reasons of Fulin's image flattening in the translating process.As the result shows,compared with the complicated "round character" in the original,Fulin's image in the translation tends to be a simple and direct "flat character",weakened in four aspects as the emperor,the son,the husband and the gifted scholar.The image flatting is mainly influenced by three factors:the publishing purpose,the reading expectation of target language readers and the cultural identity of the translator.
