On Zeng Guofan's Way of Constructing Superior Personality

曾国藩作为一代中兴名臣,有着很强的人格魅力,他自强不息,兼济天下,且自觉修身养性,成人之美,构建人们景仰的君子人格。他的君子人格首先在于以天下为己任,开创一番轰轰烈烈的伟业,他为政、治军无不兢兢业业,焚膏继昼,主张学习西方先进技术,锐意进取,努力富国强兵,努力摆脱国家积贫积弱,落后挨打的局面。曾国藩的君子之风及其构建君子人格之道在今天仍具借鉴意义。

Abstract：Zeng Guofan, as a distinguished official, had great charm of personality. He was always striving to improve himselfand contributed to the country. Being self-conscious with self-cultivation, he always helped others achieve success, which construc-ted his gentleman personality respected by others. His gentleman personality was to take serving people as his own duty, and to cre-ate a great and powerful career. He had been conscientious in government and military affairs. He stood for learning advanced west-ern technology, making unremitting efforts to enrich the country and strengthen its armed forces, and working hard to get rid of thesituation that the country was poor, weak, backward and beaten. Zeng Guofan′s gentlemanly style and the way to build a gentlemanpersonality are still of great significance today.
