The theme of Journey to the West has been a controversial topic for scholars of all ages. This paper selects some representative research documents in Ming and Qing dynasties,the Republic of China period and the New China period,and gives a brief comment on ＂religious theory＂,＂game theory＂,＂political theory＂and ＂philosophy theory＂ in their research documents,and sorts out the development of academic research history of the theme of Journey to the West. Through the study of gains and losses of the academic research history,valuable enlightenment on literary academic research can be gained.
