西方库柏研究综述

库柏在西方批评史上虽然遭到半个多世纪的冷遇,但依然保持着举足轻重的地位。20世纪60年代以来,库柏研究在西方学界迅速发展起来,不同学科（如美国文学、美国历史学以及美国研究等）都开始重新审视库柏。随着西方思想界的学科化和系统化发展,库柏研究也呈多元化态势,而作为经典作家的库柏也成为很多理论与方法的试金石。即便西方的库柏研究已然浩如烟海,但仍有很大的阐释空间,待人们进一步挖掘。

James Fenimore Cooper remains significant in the west, although he has been wronged tbr over half a century. Since 1960s, Cooper criticism has grown remarkably in western academia and Cooper was regarded important in different subjects like American literature, American history and American studies. Cooper criticism reveals the diverse interpretation of Cooper＇s works and shows that Cooper, as a classical writer, has become a touch stone for many new theories and methodologies. Despite the voluminous critical works on Cooper, there remains much to be explored.
