改革开放历经40年,中国的发展基本上是平顺稳定快速的,实现了梦寐以求的从站起来到富起来并走向强起来的伟大飞跃。所以有这个局面,是因为有改革开放之前30年打下的基础。新中国成立后,以毛泽东为核心的第一代中央领导集体建立起社会主义基本制度,进行了社会主义建设的艰辛探索,为当代中国发展进步奠定了根本政治前提、制度基础和物质基础。改革开放40年,最根本的是开辟了中国特色社会主义道路,形成了包括邓小平理论、"三个代表"重要思想、科学发展观和习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想在内的中国特色社会主义理论体系,拓展了中国特色社会主义制度,壮大了中国特色社会主义文化,这样才有改革开放40年伟大成就。我们说改革开放40年成就了当代中国,并不是说当今的中国就尽善尽美,正是因为还有不足、缺陷、短板乃至失误,所以我们还要继续坚持深化改革。

The current situation is owed to the foundation laid in the 30 years before reform and opening - up. After the new China was founded, the first - generation central leading group centering on Mao Zcdong estab- lished the basic system of socialism and carried out painstaking explorations in building socialism, thus laying the basic political precondition, institutional basis and material foundation for the development and advancement of contemporary China. The 40 years of reform and opening - up carved out the way of socialism with Chinese char- acteristics,formed the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics consisting of Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Important Thought of Three Represents, Scientific Outlook on Development, and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, developed the institutions of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and intensified the culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, thus having made the great achievements of the 40 years of reform and opening - up. We say the 40 years of reform and opening - up bring up the contemporary China, but we do not mean that China today is perfect. It is because of the existence of shortcomings, deficiencies, weaknesses and even mistakes that we must go on deepening reform and opening - up.
