Return to Vita Activa——On Arendt's Republican Thought

面对极权主义危机与现代性困境,许多思想家都在苦苦求索以探求人类之出路,找寻政治之方向。阿伦特作为20世纪杰出且具原创性的政治思想家,提出以"共和之路"的重建来挽救政治之衰微。她把"政治"揭示为一种生活方式:由于人的诞生性与复数性,促使他们以言说和行动的方式结合在一起,建立并保持一个自由的显现空间。由此,积极生活的回归——始于复数人的开创行动,成于自由的公共空间的复兴,稳定于共和国的构建——就成为了阿伦特面对20世纪的困境所给予现代人的答案。

Concerning totalitarianism and the dilemma of modernity in the 20 ^(th) century,many thinkers strenuously explored the future of human beings and politics. As the most brilliant and original political thinker of the 20 ^(th) century, Arendt provided a creative solution to this problem by rebuilding republicanism and returning to vita activa. Arendt considered politics as a lifestyle. Because of their natality and plurality,people combine together through speech and action,and establish and maintain a free and apparent space. Thus,the return of vita activa,which began with the creation of the plural people,completed during the revival of free public space and stabilized in the construction of the Republic,becomes the answer to modern people who are facing the dilemma of the 20 ^(th) century.
