“新工科”背景下理工高校全英语人文通识课程体系的建设 被引量:9

摘要 "新工科"建设存在一条人文主义路径,即工程教育和人文教育的整合,以弥补我国传统工程教育专注科学范式和技术范式的不足,提升工程人才培养质量。通过对照国外高水平理工院校的通识教育,本文认为建设全英语人文通识课程体系,是理工高校探索"新工科"建设人文路径的有力抓手,可实现提升学生英语技能和人文素养的双重目标。本文提出了理工高校全英语人文通识课程设置的初步构想。全英语人文通识课程体系的成功建设,一方面需要师资转型发展,另一方面也需得到教学管理体系的支持。 Liberal arts in engineering education are an inspiring approach towards the recently advocated New Engineering Education.It will amend the current paradigm of engineering education which focuses too much on science and technology,and greatly improve student outcomes.This paper surveys the General Education Curricula of 5 top engineering universities in US,UK,Singapore and Japan,and thus proposes an all-English GE curriculum with tentative course modules for engineering universities and colleges in China.This curriculum will help enhance the English competence and liberal arts education of engineering students.Success of this proposal lies largely in teacher development and administrative support from university authorities.
