Where to Continue the Road of Scientific Research: A Study about Doctoral Students' Employment Preferences and Influencing Factors in Science and Engineering

本文基于35所研究生院高校1906名理工科博士生的调查数据,结合对35名博士的访谈,分析了理工科博士生就业偏好的总体特征及其影响因素。研究发现理工科博士生的就业偏好总体呈多元化趋势,个体呈动态变化特征;七成博士生期望在北上广深及东部城市工作,就业选择最看重行业前景、职业发展空间和薪酬福利;性别、读博动机、学术发表情况、期望工作城市、父亲职业等因素对理工科博士生的就业偏好有显著影响;婚姻状况、导师及指导情况、母亲职业等因素则影响不显著。

Based on the survey data of 1906 doctoral students from 35 universities and 35 interviews with doctoral students,it analyzed the overall status and influencing factors of employment preferences for doctoral students in science and engineering.It found that the employment preferences were diversified,with individual dynamic process;70% of Ph.D.students prefer to work in Beijing-Shanghai-Guangzhou-Shenzhen and Eastern regions;among many factors,they value the industry＇s development prospects,career development space,and remuneration and benefits;gender,studying motivation,academic publication,expectation of employment city,and father＇s occupation have a significant effect on employment preferences;while marital status,mentoring status,academic title of the tutor,and mother＇s occupation have no significant effect on employment preferences.
