The controversy about the origin of Western Art

关于艺术起源由于立说者的时代、阶层、经济、民族、地域、文化等因素的不同及客观历史局限性,导致了对艺术起源认识与理解的差异与多元化,众说纷纭,至今没有统一的、权威的结论。某种艺术在原始状态时都是以其具有实际使用价值得以产生,原始功能主义是先人造物的最高原则,因为生存是人类发展的第一要义。当下人们认为是艺术品的先人之遗物,在当时就是一件日常生活器物,一种使用功能很明确的使用物,不是用于审美之物。至于审美、表现和愉悦等都是后来文明人之事。再结合近现代出现的新艺术类别,只有"实用说",才能从根源上、本质上概括当下所谓艺术范畴内的各门类起源之学说。

With regard to origin of art,the theory creators are in different age,class,economy,ethnic,regionalism,cultural factors and historical limitation,which causes the different understanding and diversification.Until now,there is no common,authoritative conclusion.In the primitive state,a certain art is produced with its practical value,and the primitive functionalism is the highest principle of the creation of ancestors,for survival is the first essential of human development.The work of art is regarded as a relic.At that time,it was an artifact of everyday life,a kind of use of function,not a thing of beauty.As for aesthetics,expression and emotion of art,they are all developed from civilized people.Combined with the new art categories appearing in modern times,only＂practical theory＂can be used to generalize the theory of the origin of the various categories in the so-called art category at the root and in essence.
