沧州古郡县考略

A Brief Study of the Ancient Prefectures and Counties in Cangzhou

沧州是一座历史悠久的文化名城,正式建州已有1500余年,早在秦始皇推行郡县制之前的夏商周时期,这里就曾出现过郡、国、州、县的称谓,当时辖域分幽州、兖州之地,春秋战国时期,这一带为齐、燕、赵三国地境。秦时东部属济北郡,西部属钜鹿郡,北部一部分为广阳郡。汉代先后设立勃海、河间(国)和章武三郡。北魏并设瀛、沧两州。史上还有两汉古县与侯国各二十余个。

Cangzhou is a renowned city for its long and rich culture. It was first established as a state 1500 years ago. In Xia, Shang, and Zhou Period, which was much earlier than the implementation of the prefecture and county system by the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty, Cangzhau was entitled as a prefecture, a state or a county, covering a vast area divided into two parts called Youzhou and Yanzhou respectively. In the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period, Cangzhou was shared by the three states of Qi, Yan and Zhao. During the Qin Dynasty, Cangzhou was administrated by three prefectures： the eastern part by the Jibei prefecture, the western part by the Julu prefecture, and the northern part by the Guangyang prefecture. When the Han Dynasty was established, Cangzhou was divided into three prefectures： Bohai, Hejian and Zhangwu. In the Northern Wei Dynasty, the area was administratively divided into two states： Ying and Cang. In history, there were some 20 ancient counties and principalities in Cangzhou.
