In Seize the Day, the spatial narrative functions as a crucial narrative strategy are closely related to the theme. A series of juxtaposed and changing geographical space demonstrates the money-orientated living environment of Wilhelm. In addition, by depicting the highly suggestive social space, the novel reveals the great changes in family structure, customs, and economic structure,which become the root of Wilhelm＇s pain and suffering. Finally, Wilhelm＇s process of suffering, growth, and epiphany is clearly demonstrated by his narrow, repressed and later broad and peaceful psychological space. The space is not only the stage where the story happens, but also a necessary part in uncovering the theme of the novel.
