英语教学中学生思辨能力培养的思考

Thoughts on cultivating students' critical thinking in English teaching

"思辨缺席"一直困扰着中国的英语教学,因此英语教学改革应重点关注这一问题。一般认为,英语教学的目的是让学生掌握标准英语、熟悉西方文化,而大量阅读英文经典是实现这一目的的一个重要方法。若要培养学生的思辨能力,就要引导学生批判性地思考标准英语,认识其所隐藏的权力关系,并积极致力于创造真正的"中国英语",以摆脱西方国家的文化霸权;就要引导学生批判性地阅读英文经典,认识到它们宣扬的"普世价值"的实质和危害,增强学生对社会主义文化的自信。

The ＂absence of critical thinking＂ is a problem which has been haunting the English teaching in China,and therefore,the reform of English teaching should focus on it.Generally speaking,one important purpose of English teaching is that students should master standard English and acquaint themselves with western culture and one useful way to realize this is to read English classics extensively.If we want to cultivate students＇ ability to think critically,we should guide students to look at standard English in a critical way,so that they can see the imbalanced power relations inscribed in it,and devote themselves to the creation of true ＂China English＂,so as to get away from the cultural hegemony of western countries;we should guide students to read those English classics in a critical way,so that they can see the nature and the dangers of those＂universal values＂advocated by them,thereby enhancing their confidence in our socialist culture.
