The driving behavior is the main cause of traffic jams in urban areas, so it is necessary to reduce traffic conges -tion by the effective traffic control in the two-way two-lane narrow road section, especially when it is under construction. Firstly, a typical model for the two-way two-lane roads was built, in which the length of the construction road was assumed as 100m, and the range for monitoring the vehicle flow was also 100m from each end of the construction section. Secondly, the k-means cluster analysis method was employed to separate the vehicle flow in each monitor section as 3 groups based on the vehicle positions, and the weights of each vehicle group were determined by the hierarchy weight method, so the traffic demand coefficient W was put forward to indicate the urgency of which side vehicle to pass through the construction section. Then, the traffic control strategy was determined, in which the side with the big W value would be guided to pass through in priority, and one vehicle group each times. Actually the numbers and positions of each vehicle would be obtained in real time by the bus network nodes or self-developed APP software. Finally, the traffic control simulations and analysis were conducted under the typical vehicle traffic flow situations. The results show that the method proposed in this paper can effectively improve the traffic efficiency of vehicles in the construction section, and the method is effective and feasible.
