This paper introduces the gas phase polyethylene process and the pollutants generated in the process units, with the common environmental issues in the design listed, such as screening of pollution sources, waste water treatment, standard application, tank emissions control, fugitive emissions control, division of groundwater protection, solid waste classification, monitoring plan and emission permits compliance. Combined with the handon experience, and in accordance with the government standards including Emission standard of pollutants for synthetic resin industry, Emission standard of pollutants for petroleum chemistry industry, National hazardous waste list, Standard for pollution control on the storage and disposal site for general industrial solid wastes, and Technical specification for application and issuance of pollutant permit petrochemical industry, it analyzes how to address the aforementioned issues for air and water pollution control, solid waste disposal and pollutant monitoring around the gas phase polyethylene process, proposes relevant standards for reference, and finally summarizes the characteristics and commonality in process flow, pollutant discharge and polyethylene industry.
