The work aims to explore the significance and methods of nostalgic design in layout. The layout integrating the personality, culture and trust elements and having the resonance effect of nostalgia was analyzed. It was proposed that the layout design of nostalgia should conduct the integration design of the nostalgic elements by focusing on the layout color, graphics, fonts, typesetting, materials and textures. Nostalgia is the affective need of people in life. The nostalgic design in the layout will also be the eternal subject worth studying by the designer. The nostalgic needs of layout design make breakthroughs with the change and improvement of people＇s aesthetic consciousness. The designer should get new inspiration for the methods from books, movies, television, multimedia and so on. These methods should pay attention to the organic combination of traditional culture and modern aesthetic appreciation. The nostalgic effect is expressed together by color, graphics, fonts and typesetting, materials and textures in the layout design, so as to comprehensively upgrade the reading value and appreciation value of the layout when the customers are driven by the nostalgia, thus achieving the values of layout design in forming personality, embodying culture and producing dependence.
