Interpretation of the Hypothesis That Zheng Chenggong Burns His Confucian Clothes

郑亦邹《明季遂志录》一段富于诗意的文字,演绎出郑成功焚儒服的情节,流传至今,成为后世津津乐道的历史故事。陈碧笙先生通过严谨的史学考证,证明了历史上实无郑成功焚儒服一事。然而问题还未完全了结,古书之误,盖有所由,思而适之,方才无误书。本文即试图探究郑成功焚儒服说之所以产生的文化根源。

A poetic text from Ming Ji Sui Zhi Lu, written by Zheng Yizou, deduces the plot that Zheng Chenggong burnt his Confucian clotbes, ,shich has been passed down to this day and become a history story that later generations relish. Chen Bisheng, through rigorous historical research, has proved that there is no such thing as burning robes by Zheng Chenggong. However, just as Gu Guangyin said： all errors of ancient books have their reasons, only find them out can we feel enlightened and then solve the problem radically. This paper aims to inquire into the cultural origin of this misstatement, and try to figure it out.
