This article analyzes the of delay of Boeing 787 project through the analysis of project management elements, those elements include scope management, technical management, risk management, quality management, human resource management and purchase management elements. The article also provides recommendations on future complex commercial aircraft system including： project scope should be reasonable and under control, technical trade-off studies should be thoroughly done, project risks should be addressed and strictly controlled, quality of suppliers should be controlled with high standards, high level management team should be stable, project communication modes should be effective, outsourcing scope and quality should be strictly controlled.
