In the 1960 s and 1970 s,Mao Zedong Thought spread around the world and arrived in Latin America. The Uruguayan Maoist Vicente Rovetta and his Native Books cooperated with the China International Bookstore and imported works of Mao Zedong and books about China, gradually transferring these books to other Latin American countries. The establishment of such a partnership was not by accident. The most important backgrounds were the diplomatic situation of China and the theoretical needs of Latin American leftist revolutionaries. The spread of a large number of Chinese books in Latin America made it easier for Latin American leftists to get access to a revolutionary theory that they needed at the time. These books would also have a profound impact on a Maoist movement in the decades to come.
