甲午战争时期日军近卫步兵第一旅团所编纂的《兵要支那语》,是日本在甲午战争爆发后出版的第一部纯军用汉语教科书。该教科书在初版发行后不久就进行了再版。该教科书编写的目的是为日本军人在中国的军事行动提供服务,是日本侵华的辅助工具。该教科书所蕴含的军用特性及侵略属性极为明显,是日本侵华战争在教科书出版发行领域所折射出的缩影。

Compiled by the 1^(st) Brigade of Japanese Guards Rifle Corps during the first Sino-Japanese War, Shina Language for Military Use, is the first Chinese language textbook purely for military use published by Japan after the outbreak of the first Sino-Japanese War. This textbook was reprinted soon after the publication of its first edition. The purpose of compiling this textbook as an auxiliary tool of Japanese invasion was to serve the Japanese soldiers for their military actions in China. The military characteristics and the aggression nature implied in this textbook is blindingly obvious, which reflects the epitome of Japanese War of Aggression against China in the area of textbook publication and distribution.
