Endometriosis (EMs) is a common disease in women of childbearing age, but its pathogenesis is still unclear. Many studies have suggested that macrophage recruitment and neurofibrillary infiltration are two major features of immune dysfunction in the pathogenesis of EMs, and the inflammatory environment produced by EMs is closely related to macrophage infiltration and nerve innervation imbalance, but the interaction between macrophages and nerve fibers in this process is still unknown. Macrophage recruitment and neurogenesis may be responsible for the neuroinflammatory response and pain of EMs. The interaction between macrophages and nerve fibers in EMs is reviewed in this paper.
