村冈典嗣是近代日本思想史学科的开创者和重要先驱。伴随着近年来"村冈文书"的整理公开,沉寂半世纪的村冈研究开始在日本学界兴起。其在战时的学说是研究中不可回避的问题。村冈战时提出的日本精神论与新生的日本思想史学科的发展思路息息相关,典型地显示出其作为史学家和学科开创者的特色。该论说体现了国际视野与民族主义的碰撞,以及西方史学理论同日本历史的结合,在具有时代局限性的同时又富有前瞻性,是解明村冈思想的一个关键,对今日史学研究也不乏启示意义。

Muraoka Tsunetsugu is the founder and an important pioneer of the Japanese intellectual history. In the 21st century, Tohoku University reorganized and made public the documents of him, which effectively promoted the renaissance of the research on him. His remarks during World War Ⅱ are an unavoidable issue. His view on the Japanese spirit is closely related to the development of the Japanese intellectual history. He has the characteristics of a typical historian and the founder of a discipline. His speech has a universal perspective and also has a nationalist side.It has reflected the combination of western historiography and Japanese history.His views are limited, but also forward-looking, and have enlizhtening to the reality.
