美籍阿富汗裔作家卡勒德·胡赛尼在其成名作《追风筝的人》中生动体现了美国族裔文学的创作特点。小说在叙事手法、视角选择、人物塑造三个方面充分展现了作者身为少数族群代表在主流文化的影响下,采用妥协与迎合的态度委婉地为本国民族文化进行不懈的辩解和抗争的努力,同时也体现出少数族裔在异国他乡复杂的生存现状和对母国无法割舍的深厚情感。

Being an Afghanistan American, Khaled Hosseini exhibits the characteristics of American ethnicliterature in his representative work The Kite Runner . In the aspects of narrative strategy, narrative perspective, aswell as characterization of the novel, the author, influenced by the culture of mainstream, makes his determinedefforts to justify the image of Afghan with the approaches of compromise and adaption. Besides, the ethnicminorities’ hardship in foreign countries and inseparable connection with their motherland are also reflected vividly.
