行为艺术的特殊性在于以行为、身体为媒材,而行为、身体天然属于某一文化共同体的公共领域和公共部分,再加之行为艺术必然以观众的参与性、观看性为存在方式,内外两方面决定了行为艺术是一种特殊的公共艺术。由此,行为艺术必须通过艺术化手段,尊重身体禁忌和文化认知,消除观众对身体、行为的文化警觉,让身体或行为变成艺术符号,实现所指的转移,从而实现公众的交流与理解。

Thus, behavior art must be throughartistic means to respect the body taboos and cultural cognition. By this means to eliminate the audience on the body andbehavior of cultural awareness, and let the body or behavior into art symbol to achieve the transform of means, so as torealize the communication and understanding of the public.
