Transition toward IPv6 in GPRS/WCDMA Mobile Networks

移动通信和互联网成为最近发展最快、潜力最大、前景最诱人的两大市场。越来越多的人希望在移动的过程中高速接入互联网。移动与互联网相结合成为必然的趋势,而基于IPv6的移动无线互联网将在海量的地址空间、移动性、服务质量、效率与最优化等方面给用户和企业带来好处。欧洲已经决定GPRS网和WCDMA网以及移动终端都要尽快支持IPv6。如何分阶段平滑过渡,在过渡期内IPv4与IPv6如何互通都是十分重要的。主要介绍欧洲在GPRS和WCDMA移动网中向IPv6过渡时所考虑的几种过渡方法、阶段划分和可能发生的情况举例。

Mobile communications and Internet have become two major mar-kets with fastest development,greatest potential and best foreground.More and more people are expecting to access Internet in high-speed movement.The combination of mobile and Internet is the certain trend,while IPv6-based mobile wireless Internet will bring ben-efits of vast address capacity,mobility,QoS,efficiency and optimization for customers and enterprises.It has been decided in Europe that GPRS network,WCDMA network and mobile termi -nals should support IPv6as soon as possible.How to make smooth transi-tion phase by phase and realize inter-working between IPv4and IPv6during the transition is very important issue.The transition modes to IPv6in GPRS and WCDMA networks,the partition of phases and examples of potential situ-ation are introduced in this paper.
