The Punishment of Being Unfilial in Ming Dynasty and Its Modern Enlightenment

明代孝道思想在继承前代的基础上得到了深入发展,政府为了"励风俗",在推行孝道激励的同时,对于不孝行为也实行一定的惩治措施,主要有对平民的工役终身、论罪;对官吏的罢任、发配;对王公贵族的革爵、勒令自尽等,这些措施对我们今天继承和发扬孝道仍有重要意义。

The thought of filial piety in Ming dynasty was further developed on the basis of inheriting the previous dynasties.In order to ＂encourage the customs＂,the government carried out the filial piety encouragement as well as certain punishment measures to the unfilial behavior.These measures included the lifelong servitude and the criminalization of civilians, removing and dismissing the title of nobility and ordering the nobles to commit suicide,etc.These measures are still of great significance to us today.
