认知语言学视角下的英语新词构建研究

A Study on the Constructing of New English Words from the Perspective of Cognitive Linguistics

随着时代的发展与变化,英语的词汇也在发展与变化。新的英语词汇就像一面镜子,在见证着这个时代的进程。从认知语言学的视角来看,英语中的新词自然也是形式和意义的配对体。新词的构建主要是两个方面:一方面是新词的形式构建,另一方面是新词的意义构建。在对不断变化的时代背景的体验基础上,人们通过不同的认知操作模式和认知活动对意义和形式进行匹配,进而构建出新词汇,文章就新词构建中的认知操作和认知过程进行探究。

Along with the change and development of time and reality, English vocabulary inventory has been developing and updating. The emerging new English words reflect and witness the immediate reality and society like a mirror. Viewed within cognitive linguistics, new English words are certainly pairings of form and meaning. The constructing of new words entails two aspects： form constructing and meaning constructing. Based on the embodied experience of the ever-changing reality, people employs various cognitive operations to pair form and meaning and new words are thus constructed. The cognitive operations and cognitive processes relating to the constructing of new English words are fully examined in the paper.
