论翻译实践中译者的忠实取向

On Orientations of Translator's Faithfulness

一般情况下,人们总是把译者的忠实理解为译者对于原文或原作者的忠实。在翻译实践中,译者除了忠实于原作(者),其实还有忠实于读者、忠实于委托人、忠实于"真相/真理",乃至忠实于译者"本心",即译者翻译理想的选择。这几种情况也并不是非此即彼的对立,而是相互联系、相互影响、彼此交叠,甚至互为条件、互为因果。具体要忠实于哪一个或者哪几个对象,译者必须根据实际情况加以取舍,做出选择。

In general, people tend to interpret translator＇s faithfulness as faithfulness to the original text/author. In translation practice, besides the original text/author, translators can also choose from being faithful to readers, clients, the truths, or even their own “conscience”, i.e. the translator’s translation ideal. These orientations are not either-or confrontation, but interrelated, mutually influencing, overlapping, or even mutually conditioned and in reciprocal causation as well.Translators must make a choice and decide who he should be faithful to according to a particular situation.
