Survey Study on C-E Translation of Public Signs in Yuejiang Tower

南京阅江楼是江南四大名楼之一。阅江楼风景区公示语汉英翻译质量对南京城市形象的展示有重要作用。通过对南京阅江楼风景区公示语翻译的调查,分析了目前南京阅江楼风景区公示语汉英翻译中拼写错误、专有名词翻译错误、词义错误、语法错误、中式英语和其他错误等六类问题,并依据相关语料提出提高翻译人员能力素养、加强审查、加强统一监管三项建议,以期对景区公示语翻译准确率提高有一定推动作用,为城市文化对外输出做出些许贡献。

Yuejiang Tower of Nanjing is one of the four famous towers in the south of the Yangtze River. The quality of C-Etranslation of public signs in Yuejiang Tower Scenic Area plays an important role in the display of urban image of Nanjing. Byinvestigating the translation of public signs in Yuejiang Tower Scenic Area, this paper analyzes six types of problems C-Etranslation of public signs in the area, including spelling errors, proper nouns translation errors, word meaning errors, grammaticalerrors, Chinglish errors and other errors, and puts forward three suggestions of improving translators’qualification andstrengthening examination and unified supervision according to relevant corpus so as to promote the translation accuracy of publicsigns in scenic spots and make some contributions to the transmission of urban culture.
