the theme Chun Zhi Ben Ben 鹑之奔奔 is a satire on the family of Duke Xuan, but about the political reality that the murders among father and son and the brothers. There are two main reasons for wide-spread misreading of its implicit theme, one is originated from Mao＇s edition of the Shijing the other is from Zheng Xuan＇s interpretations of the words＂Ben 奔＂and＂Jian 彊＂. Based on the original meaning of＂Ben 奔＂and＂Jian 彊＂, and the custom of quail fight in ancient China, and the history of Vassal State of Wei, we can make sure of the theme of Chun Zhi Ben Ben 鹑之奔奔. Some citation examples of this poem in the period of Pre-Qin also support ours conclusion.
