The Metropol project was carried out on one of Milan＇s prestigious historical icons, the Metropol Cinema in viale Piave dating back to the 1940s, which once played host to Maria Callas when she recorded the record version of Bellini＇s Norma. The project involved the complete restructuring of the building and addition of an approximately 1000 m2 extension to increase its overall area to approximately 3500 m2, so that it could accommodate an events hall and reception spaces. The familiar leitmotifs the architects and company have jointly developed were used here： linear forms, Mediterranean-style materials like pumice stone and black opaline glass, shiny surfaces and striking lighting effects, which all fit in perfectly with Dolce＆Gabbana＇s style.
