Gestational diabetes mellitus is one of the important factors affecting the maternal and child health outcomes at present. The incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus is increasing day by day and has a profound impact on maternal and child health. At present, the treatment mainly includes diet control, exercise therapy and insulin therapy.Studies have shown that the intestinal flora could regulate maternal immunity, metabolism, exert anti-inflammatory effects and improve the intestinal micro-environment,which was expected to become a new means of preventing and treating gestational diabetes mellitus.Understanding the changes of intestinal flora associated with the development of gestational diabetes mellitus, the effect of probiotics on glucose and lipid metabolism during pregnancy and the pathophysiological mechanisms of probi otics against gestational diabetes mellitus can help us to use probiotics as a new strategy for the prevention and treatment of gestational diabetes mellitus.
