作为独具美国特色的新兴学科美国研究的重要组成部分,美国文学研究经历了从发展到重塑的过程,其研究理论与方法及其与文化研究间的关系长期以来也一直备受关注。以符拉迪米尔·纳博科夫为代表的后现代主义作家对传统的"神话-象征"表现手法进行了新的解读与构建,凸显其反传统、反常规、随心所欲和虚实结合的创作手法,将使后现代主义文学在长时期内经久不衰。进入21世纪之后,美国在政治和社会等方面出现了诸多不确定性,而反映美国最近历史和现代社会现象和本质的后现代美国文学在这一背景下,无论在跨领域的创作手法亦或是传播"美国至上"理念上,均面临空间拓展和疆界重绘所带来的前所未有的机遇与挑战。

As a unique part of rising specialization with particular American characteristics of American Studies,postmodern American literature,represented by Vladimir Nabokov＇s,has undergone the course of development,achievements and remodeling. It has been controversial for its research theory and even the relationship with cultural study and its traditional＂Myth and Symbol＂expression is being challenged by the unprecedented reconstruction in the postmodern period.However,with its ever-expanding space and boundaries redrawing in the field of ethnic literature,the postmodern American literature,in the background of the American Studies,is developing with both its traditional writing styles and innovations like border-crossing study while confronting the conventional thinking of ＂American Exception＂among the ever-greater social uncertainty at the beginning of the 21 stcentury.
