篱笆的产生与农业起源及人类的定居生活密不可分。几千年来,篱笆围护在人们的房前屋后,田地周边,与人们的生产、生活息息相关,已成为具有生命力以及文化气息的活物。篱笆编制和使用历史悠久,其制作材料和形制也在不断演变,按照制篱材料大致可分为竹篱笆、秸秆篱笆、树木篱笆等几种。篱笆除最基本的防御功能外,还有分区导向功能、改善生态功能、装饰功能。古代篱笆历史文化对于当今的生态保护和环境美化具有一定借鉴价值。

In terms of material, fences could be divided into bamboo fence, wooden fence, etc. Apart from defending, the fundamental function of fence, other functions include orientation, ecological improvement and decoration.
