Solution to Voice and SMS for 5G Networks

语音及短信作为基本电信业务在5G网络是必需的,3GPP R15提出了EPS Fallback和VoNR两种主要语音解决方案以及基于SMSF的短信解决方案,通过对业务场景、方案特点、网络条件及部署成本等因素的综合分析,建议5G语音初期优选VoLTE和EPS Fallback、后期向VoNR方案过渡,按需部署基于SMSF的短信解决方案。

As the basic telecommunication services, voice and SMS are essential for 5G networks. EPS Fallback and VoNR have been proposed in 3 GPP R15 as two main solutions to voice, while SMSF has been put forward as the solution to SMS. According to the analyses on service scenario, solution characteristics, network condition and deployment cost, it is recommended that Vo LTE and EPS Fallback should be the voice solutions in early stage of 5G, and then the transition to VoNR should be selected in the later stage. Also, the SMSF-based SMS solution should be deployed on demand.
