清末民初,云南近代报人小说家开始出现。他们兼有报人和小说家双重身份,是云南第一代小说作者。思想上,报人小说家具有强烈的启蒙精神、新旧杂糅的矛盾性。他们的出现促进了云南近代小说创作繁荣,标志着云南职业作家初步形成,对20世纪云南文学有着重要意义。

Toward the end of the Qing dynasty, Yunnan began to have its first generation modern journalism born novel ists, with a double identity of being journalist and novelist. Ideologically, they were a paradox of ancient ideas and modern enlightenment spirit. Their coming on the stage pushed modern novels to flourish in Yunnan, marked the birth of profes sional authors in the province, and exerted profound influence on Yunnan literature in the 20th century.
