In the novel The Sin Eater, the Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood describes the spiritual crisis faced by narrators in the postmodem context, which stems from the survival anxiety of the self. Explaining the narrator' s survival anxiety by Lacan' s psychoanalytic theory can reveal Atwood' s mediation in this novel about the nature of sell' and the existing situation of post-modern subjects.
