Balls made from colorful, twined threads, known as shouju in Chinese, or temari in Japanese, is a folk art that originated in ancient China between the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods (770-221 BC). Since Dai Lu noticed the artistic value of this handmade craft, about five years ago, she has dedicated herself to adding innovative, decorative elements to this craft, and to making it popular in contemporary Chinese society.
