港台高校ESP课程设置对内地高校英语教学改革的启示

The Implication of ESP Curricula Offered in Universities of Hong Kong and Taiwan to English Teaching Reforms in China's Mainland Universities

摘要 通过对香港、台湾地区4所高校的专门用途英语(ESP)课程设置现状进行调查后发现,由于受其历史渊源、经济社会发展、办学水平等因素影响和制约,港台两地高校的ESP课程处于不同发展阶段:香港高校的ESP课程发展已较为完善,而台湾高校ESP课程发展则相对滞后。内地高校应吸取经验,选择适合自身的发展道路,建议通用英语与ESP并重,根据学生需求开设ESP课程,加强ESP师资培养,开展ESP网络教学,构建ESP合作交流平台。 After investigating ESP curricula offered in four universities of Hong Kong and Taiwan,the present paper reveals that,due to the constraints of historical,social and economic development and school-running levels,ESP courses offered in Hong Kong universities are well-structured while those in Taiwan universities not well-constructed. Universities in China's Mainland should learn from their experience and choose the development path that best suits them. This paper also gives suggestions for China's Mainland universities: to lay equal stress on EGP and ESP courses,develop ESP courses according to student needs,train ESP course teachers,encourage ESP web-based teaching,and construct ESP course platforms for exchange and cooperation.
