The ritual theory of anthropology casts light on the narrative research of the novel. The writing of the ritual is not only an integral part of the narration, but can also serve as a starting point for studies on the novel. ＂Elements of ritual＂, ＂ritualization＂ and ＂the sense of ritual＂ constitute three levels of the novel＇s narration. Instead of being simply superposed upon one another, these three factors present the theme and purpose of the narrative text, and reflect the intrinsic value of literary works. As the theoretical support for analysis, the use of the ritual and its connotation has broadened the scope of the narrative criticism by providing us a new perspective.
