Sarcopenia, a common complication of cirrhosis, can affect the duration of survival, reduce the quality of life, increase the risk of other complications, and even have implications in the outcome of liver transplantation in patients of cirrhosis. In this article, we reviewed the current knowledge of the association between cirrhosis and sarcopenia, the potential mechanisms and the management sarcopenia in patients with cirrhosis.
