Guan Ruiwu＇s Contributions to Chinese Children＇s Social Work in the First Half of the 20th Century

Guan Ruiwu, a key promoter of child welfare in the first half of the 20th century, made outstanding contributions to Chinese children＇s social work with her teaching and practice for fifteen years. Applying the scientific methods of infant raising and education learned at an American university, Guan Ruiwu trained nannies, developed the cottage system, emphasized the indispensable position of the social worker in children＇s case studies and behavior modification. Guan Ruiwu＇s innovative work, a great step forward, modernized traditional charity. In general children＇s social work, she explored a new path for children＇s good health, good support, good teaching, and good safety in society by creating regional casework methods.
