Control of sedimentation in reservoirs of Sichuan Province: pilot studies and experiences

四川作为水库大省,绝大部分水库已运行50～70年,淤积问题日益严重。水库淤积治理不仅事关工程自身安全及效益发挥,也关系到人民群众生产、生活、生态用水安全。在系统总结2012年以来四川省开展水库淤积治理及水源保护试点经验的基础上,对典型水库淤积治理试点案例进行剖析,从社会效益、经济效益、生态效益及技术手段方面分析了水库淤积治理的可行性,总结了水库淤积治理试点工作取得的成效及经验,并对存在的问题和下一步工作提出了建议。

A large number of reservoirs have been built in Sichuan Province and most of which have been operated for 50-70 years with sedimentation problem. Control of sedimentation not only relates to the safety of dams and benefit generation, but also relates to peoples’ production, lives and safety of ecological water use. Through summary of experiences of pilot project implementation in Sichuan Province since 2012, in-depth analysis has been made on the typical cases of sedimentation treatment and feasibility studies on mitigation measures in terms of social, economic and ecological benefits and technical measures. The achievements and experiences of pilot projects for sedimentation control and water source protection are reviewed, with suggestions made for challenges faced by reservoir operation and actions in the next step.
