The General Situation and Value of Modern Archives of Guangdong Customs

中国近代海关不仅引进了西方的人事、财务和业务管理制度,而且在统计、出版、档案管理方面也极具特色,加之其业务范围广泛而庞杂,为我们留下了大量详尽而真实的历史记录,是研究中国近代史不可或缺的一手资料。

The modern archives of Guangdong customs( the paper specifically refers to the period of 1860-1949) originally stored in the archives of Guangdong customs. Among them, such as the semi official letters of confidentiality were kept by the foreign excise office,or they were grasped by its trusted secretary. After the liberation,this batch of archives was taken over by the Guangzhou Customs,and finally transfered uniformly to Guangdong Province Archives according to the national regulations,it became the core of museum treasures in"Guangdong Customs modern archives". For various causes,most of this batch of archives was protected in the"purdah"that they were few known and utilized. The modern archives of Guangdong Customs are about 5000 volumes,covering a wide range of content,with the characteristics of original,objective,complete,and abundant. Have historical research and practical value.
